Our role at Harak Associates is simple - we help you navigate the wealth of tax refund and training grant programs available to businesses. We manage the application process and the ongoing reimbursement requirements so you can focus on running your business.

Who We Are

WHO WE ARE

Harak Associates was founded as a result of lessons learned over the five years that Donna Harak managed the Local Business Retention & Expansion program at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s economic development organization, the Committee of One Hundred.

Through her work with over 1,000 local businesses, Ms. Harak found the common issue across the community’s industry clusters - from Construction to Financial Services to Healthcare/Life Sciences - was the desire to improve market competitiveness and financial stability.

She discovered that simply educating a business about their eligibility for tax refund or training grant programs that could bring money to their bottom line was no indicator that the company would actually apply for these incentive programs. The staff hours associated with the management and tracking process of a government grant program outweighed any perceived benefit of applying.

Understanding that every company is different and solutions for each must be unique, Harak Associates will identify and manage those tax and training grant incentive programs critical to your company’s success.

Programs

PROGRAMS

Harak Associates can assist in finding programs appropriate for your business such as:

Qualified Targeted Industry Tax Refund : Companies expanding their workforce by at least 10% or ten new high wage jobs that pay at least 115% of the state's average annual wage may be eligible for a minimum tax refund of $30,000.

Sales Tax Exemption Programs : The State of Florida offers many sales tax exemption programs based on specific industry requirements.

Quick Response Training Grant : Qualified Targeted Industries adding at least 10% new jobs to their employee headcount may be eligible for a two year training grant of up to $1,250 per each new employee.

Incumbent Worker Training Grant : Companies may be awarded a 50% reimbursement on eligible training up to a maximum of $50,000 for the company with a maximum of $4,500 for any one individual trainee.

Employed Worker Training Grant: Eligible companies may be awarded 100% reimbursement for skills-based training for employes earning between $12/hr and $26/hr up to a maximum grant award of $50,000.

Enterprise Zone Programs : Employers moving into a designate zone may be offered tax incentives that reduce Federal tax liability, increase expense limits of business assets, permit issuance of tax exempt bonds, provide exemptions from capital gains taxation for properties that are sold and provide wage credits.
